College Reunion Sunday

Homecoming is such a festive time for High Schools and Colleges in America. It is a festive time for alumni to return to town and reminisce with classmates of years past. For the University of North Alabama their Homecoming is the weekend of October 12th.  This year we are having at FBC FLORENCE a COLLEGE REUNION SUNDAY, on October 13th.
FBC has been known for reaching college students for well over thirty years.  Before I came on staff and began to work with college ministry, this grand church had touched the lives of university students for years before.  It is one of our greatest mission fields and God is truly blessing us for this wonderful ministry.  Many former students often reach out to us to share how much they loved FBC while in college at UNA.  Just in my time of being on staff, I estimated that we’ve touched the lives of a couple of thousand people who were involved in FBC college ministry.  To God be the Glory!
Why have a College Reunion Sunday?  It’s a chance to let former students bring their spouses, family and show them where they once attended church.  Many of them made good friends with some of you over the years and would love to reengage with you.  There may be some who just need that reminder of how God spoke to them while at UNA and FBC.  Many may travel from out of town to be with us but some may be in the city of Florence.  This might be a chance to reach some familiar faces who need a church home. So whether we are fanning the flame of their faith or encouraging them on their current journey, it is a chance to remind former students GOD LOVES YOU and FBC STILL LOVES YOU TOO!
So what do we have planned for that Sunday Morning on October 13th?   We will have Matt Daniels, the campus minister of our BCM to preach for us.  Matt started to UNA and joined FBC very soon afterwards.  We all knew God had big things in store for this young man and God has truly used him.  We are honored to have him in the pulpit that day.  We will also have a CHURCH WIDE LUNCH to follow the morning service.  We are going to keep it simple though for everyone.  It will be a hamburger lunch and we hope you will make plans to join us for lunch on that day.  Plus, we want our church family to mingle and fellowship with our guests on that day!
If you know of a former FBC college student from years past, please reach out to them and invite them to join us.  There are Facebook posts on our Social Media page that you can help share the invites as well.  This will be an encourage day for our church and hopefully for many guests who join us.  Please pray for this special day and mark it on your calendar.
