HEAVEN

What a great day of worship this past Sunday. I loved every opportunity to worship Jesus for He is worthy of our worship and deserves it!  I appreciate those who lead us in praises to our Lord as well. Bro. Scott sang a beautiful song entitled Come Jesus Come. Here is the first verse:

“Sometimes I fall to my knees and pray
Come Jesus come
Let today be the day
Sometimes I feel like I’m gonna break
But I’m holding on
To a hope that won’t fade”

The song was written during the pandemic of 2020 by a group of songwriters. As everyone struggled with uncertainty of life they wrote “But I’m holding on to a hope that won’t fade.”  Just a reminder that the promise of the return of Jesus is a game changer for Christians. It’s a reminder of our certainty in the midst of uncertainty. It’s a reminder of our permanent home in the midst of a troubled world. It’s the assurance of the promise of our Savior. When life is scrambled with difficulties, we hold to that hope that won’t fade.

Paul said it this way, “But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.” Philippians 3:20. Ask yourself this week this question. Do you hold on to this world too tight and do you truly long for the return of Christ? Paul said we should eagerly await the return of our Lord.  I wonder how much our thought process in life would change if we daily longed for the return of Christ.  If we put our dreams to the side without hesitation at any time for the anticipation of Jesus face.  When we get to the point in our spiritual life that we eagerly await His coming, how much would it change the way we live on this earth today?

Over 300 times in the New Testament the return of Christ is mentioned. Maybe we should embrace the return of Christ a little more than when we have in the past. It’s not what we might miss on earth that matters. It’s what we have forever in the presence of our Lord! As the last verse in the Bible says, “Even so, come, Lord Jesus!” Revelation 22:20
