David - From Groans to Gratitude
This message in our Attitudes to Gratitude series looks deeply into King David’s heart as he faced one of the greatest personal tragedies of his life — the loss of his child. Through David’s season of distress, desperation, and devastation, we see a man who didn’t fight God, bargain with God, or turn away from God, but instead ran to Him. David’s brokenness reveals that true faith is not proven in the absence of pain, but in how we respond to it. Even in overwhelming grief, David chose gratitude, trusting that God’s grace was greater than his sorrow, God’s faithfulness was unshaken, and his child was safe in the presence of the Lord. This sermon challenges us to reflect on how we handle loss, hardship, and disappointment, reminding us that God did not design us to live in spiritual graveyards. Instead, our grief can become a bridge to grace, our pain a pathway to growth, and our circumstances not a barrier to worship, but the very reason we worship.
